The Strawberry Mt. Range

Where would I begin? In the small city of John Day? or the quaint town of Prairie City?

But somewhere in between is the Strawberry Mt. Range, which includes Canyon Mt, and Little Canyon Mt, which just happens to be an old volcano where you can also find old fish fossils and Canyon Mt. Jade sitting on the ground if your brave enough to climb that high or look that far.

If you move to the West about 8 miles you will be looking up at the Majestic Aldridge Mountains they roll down valley to the west like a wave until you enter into Picture Gorge and what my children Call Dino Land...The Fossil Beds...A land filled with color and mountains and fossils of a time long past.

If your board with all this goodness you can go and sit beside several mountain lakes and reflect on your trip and where you want to go next? Perhaps the desert, after all we are high desert country! but most of all SLOW down, because you have never been to place like Grant County, Oregon!
